Fear of Halloween

Tudie had a club foot and mismatched shoes

Betty got her arm smashed in a washer wringer

Payton lost an eye to a firecracker and wears a patch

Margie forgot who she was after nearly drowning

For Halloween we carve pumpkins for them

We bring them candy and candied apples

We do this every year because we are afraid

That they will remember how evil they were before.
